Everyone seems to have a Kickstarter on the go at the moment, where they beg the world for a few bucks to fund their hundred thousand dollar indie record or arthouse film. It’s easy to ignore the relentless GIVE ME MONEY tweets. However, this week a Kickstarter has caught my attention and I feel like you all need to help this cutie achieve her dream.
Erin Fae wants $2700 to get to Halifax to participate in a 2 week residency she has been offered at Robert Street Studios. Watch her video and tell me that’s not the cutest, politest request for change that you’ve ever seen.

More »“I’ve been making zines since the early 2000s and they’ve changed my life. Zines are a bit part of the reason I ended up living in Auckland, New Zealand and running Alphabet City, an art space all about self-publishing, printmaking and words.
Alas, since moving to Auckland I haven’t made a new issue of my zine, Imaginary Windows. To change this, I applied for a residency at the Roberts Street Social Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They run an annual artist-in-residence program, and I’m so delighted: they picked me to spend two weeks working on a new issue of my zine.
But I can’t get to Roberts Street on my own. The airfare is astronomically expensive, and I need help to cover that cost. I could take a trip around the moon, and I would still be 4,000 km (2,485 miles) short of the total distance I need to travel. I’m asking for help because to me, this residency isn’t about hiding away in a tiny room in Canada, it’s about building new connections and conversations with other people.
